Lynne Stewart [1985, Textiles]
Lynne’s soft sculpture art comes from her scrap box. Like the Post-Minimalist art of the 1970s, she creates sculptures using materials from her surroundings. She creates mainly with remnants from clients projects; cushions, curtains, pillows, thrifted items, and pieces of fabric and clothing from family and friends. The inspiration for her work comes from nature: plants, cacti, trees, fungi, and birds. Nature has so many unique colors and textures, just like fabric. Lynne’s passion for up- cycling textiles drives her imagination to make something new grow from something old. Her sense of humor adds a playfulness and sometimes eccentric flare to all her pieces.
