Clair Cadorette [2016, Glass]

Light, color, and form, are the heart of the Electric Cuties. Claire Cadorette received her BFA from RISD in 2016 and when Cadorette went to Alfred University for her MFA, where she met the other Electric Cutie James Ronner. The partnership Electric Cuties is a whimsical interior design company with an emphasis on light. Primarily, these artist work in neon, and the neon work is typically mounted in bright colorful acrylic. The neon ranges from abstract shapes to poetic script. Each neon piece comes fully mounted and ready to plug right in or mount on a wall. However, neon is not the only eclectic lighting Cadorette makes. Cadorette has developed a process which combines glass blowing and sandcasting. She makes both mushrooms and amorphous forms from this process, both of which cast this dreamy light. This work’s color pallet is described as “transparent neutral,” by Cadorette, because obviously pink is a neutral for an Electric Cutie. On top of lighting, Electric Cuties also produces a pastel line of functional ware. This includes vases, batter bowls, and cake plates. This work is designed to bring joy to everyday tasks, and you can tell by the soft comforting colors. Electric Cuties mission is to bring levity to mundane tasks by adding bold splashes of color to our homes.
