Janice Lee Kelly [BArch 1975]
GooglyPop.com Jewelry is a celebration of the miracle that is our vision.
Janice Lee Kelly, a RISD-trained and licensed architect, is awed by both the form and function of the eye as well as the role that seeing plays in developing both our understanding of the visible world and our capacity to visualize that which does not yet exist. Janice believes that in many ways “we become what we see” and that being open to absorbing beauty has lead her to a deeper spiritual awareness.
These wearable “third eyes” (both Googley and Spirit) are constructed using the hardware and utilitarian down to earth objects that hold our world together ( washers, cables, springs, buttons etc.) and support our imagination and loftier inner vision.
Janice imagines these pieces to be worn as talismans / mobile meditation pieces – both witty and profound – as reminders to awaken our powers of observation and connect our visual understanding with our hands, head and heart. Through our eyes we can begin to know and appreciate that which can be seen and also sense the presence of a sacred dimension beyond.
