Lynne Stewart [1985, Textiles]

Lynne’s love of fabric started as a child. Her grandmother made clothes for her and she just loved all the pieces of fabric in her Grammies’ big scrap box. Today, her soft sculpture art comes from her surroundings. Lynne uses mostly Up-cycled remnants from clients, cushions and curtain projects, thrifted items, and bits of fabric and clothing from family and friends. Her inspiration comes from the many unique colors and textures in nature: trees, plants, animals, and birds. Her passion for up-cycling textiles drives her imagination to make something new grow from something old. Lynne’s sense of humor adds a playfulness and sometimes eccentric flare to her creations. Her many soft sculptured pieces range from one of a kind stump ottomans to chickens, kittens and perhaps even a yeti.
