Matthew Finger [1991, Illustration]

Matthew Finger is an artist living and working in Pawtucket, RI. He graduated with a BFA in Illustration from the Rhode Island School of Design in 1991. His body of abstract work (begun in 2015) explores color and texture through a variety of repeated geometric shapes. The work is created using layers of painted collaged paper and board, various mediums and poured resin. The work is composed of these mixed media forms inlayed in a puzzle-like style and layered in resin. Repeating various forms allows him to experiment with variations of color and texture within the work He finds inspiration in the world around him from worn architectural fragments, worn boat hulls, antique signage, toys, and even the labels on discarded candy wrappers as well as natural objects like seashells and stones.
