First, Amy uses her hands to make a sculpture about color, line and shape inspired by the concept of floral arrangements, a widely accepted form of beauty. She is drawn to fabric for how well it brings color to life. People have a physical understanding of fabric because of the many ways we share space with it. After a sculpture is made, inspired by the concept of fashion photography, she looks at it through a camera, wondering what she can be taught by looking at it in this different way. Whether working in 2D or 3D, Amy is interested in making a visual moment that pulls viewers out of our fraught norm and into beauty, whimsy and possibility.
