Christina Savas [2005, Apparel Design]
Christina’s artwork is an exploration of the wonders of nature through color and texture. She studies nature with a curious and intimate eye and paints dynamic and exotic creatures and plants. Considering birds, flowers, and fish as objects of both beauty and mystique, she pays homage to flora and fauna with bright color palettes and interesting compositions on canvas. Texture plays a major role in her painting process. Be it feathers, scales, or petals, she layers color and value to create texture and depth. Working with both acrylic and watercolor, Christina finds painting an expression of personal freedom and sees her journey as a painter to be a passionate, unrestricted, lifelong education. A BFA in Apparel Design and 17 years of professional experience as a fashion designer has fed Christina’s fine art practice with a design-minded process and a love of creating unique color palettes within each painting as well as utilizing different techniques of painting to capture wild and unique subject matters. Christina participates in juried art shows in RI and CT and is a member of the Wickford Art Association. A portfolio of her work can be found at www.studiodifabioart.com.
