Pegeen Ryan [1981, Printmaking]
Pegeen Ryan draws inspiration from the seashore, using large sea scallop shells as her canvas. Shells are sourced locally and many other materials such as driftwood are beachcombing finds. Combining layered spray painting and hand painting to create a ceramic-like surface, the shells are then framed or mounted on surfaces such as vintage ocean raft wood or distressed bead board from Cape Cod cottages. Some are made into hanging pieces, while others become ornaments and ring dishes. All pieces are handcrafted and one-of-a kind.
