Moira North is a printmaker who creates hand-carved linocut greeting cards and limited-edition prints. Each card is a hand-printed original — not a reproduction. Her cards and prints emphasize craftsmanship, thoughtful design, and the subtle variations that make every impression unique. Moira prints with a wooden lever press or by hand using a baren, sometimes using a process called chine-collé to introduce delicate layers of color with tissue paper. While her primary focus is greeting cards and prints, she also hand-prints designs on tees and tote bags.

Living in the White Mountains of New Hampshire, Moira draws inspiration from her surroundings — woods, mountains, bears (!), and meaningful objects found at home, weaving in touches of whimsy, narrative, and typography.

Her process begins with observation, sketching, and painting with watercolor and gouache. These studies evolve into linocut prints, translating the softness of brushwork into bold graphic forms. She sometimes includes these small works on paper alongside her prints.

After more than 30 years working as a graphic designer in the catalog, retail, and publishing industries, Moira has joyfully returned to hands-on making, reconnecting with the tactile processes that drew her to art, and reigniting the creative spark she experienced at RISD.
