Brenna Bruggeman [2026, Ceramics]
Renn is an evolving collection of one-of-a-kind wearable works in ceramic and polymer clay. The project has grown alongside Brenna’s explorations in ceramic sculpture and polymer clay stop-motion animation, becoming an extension of both practices at a more intimate, wearable scale.
Born from a desire to repurpose and transform remnants from her making process, each piece also becomes a space to experiment with color, pattern, and form alongside her studio practice.
Her most recent wearable works begin with a ceramic structure, created by piping stoneware paper-slip into looping lines and organic shapes across a plaster slab. Once fired and glazed, these ceramic forms become a kind of scaffolding for polymer clay to play upon. Bright colors intertwine with the lines of stoneware and react to the gravity of how each piece will hang (as a pendant or broach) until each piece feels complete and unique. Then the pendant is baked once more to cure the polymer clay onto the piece.
