Cathy G. Johnson [MA 2017, Art Education]
Cathy G. Johnson is an award-winning printmaker, book-maker, illustrator and arts educator from Providence, Rhode Island, occupied Wampanoag and Narragansett land. Her work delves into the complicated worlds of young people with themes of the rebellious and monstrous. She regularly shows her silkscreen prints at juried exhibitions throughout North America. Her silkscreen work on both paper and clothing is handmade at the queer art collective Binch Press x Queer.Archive.Work in Providence. She makes local community and event prints throughout New England. Cathy is also an award-winning author. Her graphic novels include ‘Jeremiah’ (2015), ‘Gorgeous’ (2016) and ‘The Breakaways’ (2019), in addition to self-published works. She is an educator and scholar, teaching art workshops and serving as a thesis lecturer in the MFA Visual Narrative program at Boston University College of Fine Arts.
