Christina Savas [2005, Apparel Design]
Christina’s artwork is an exploration of color, texture, and the wonders of exotic flora and fauna. Considering the flamingo and other characters in nature as objects of both beauty and mystique, she celebrates their multitude of personalities and poses on canvas. Following her fascinations, she aims to highlight the awe she finds in her subject and share it with her audience. Her hope is to inspire joy and wonder and remind us to have fun and not be afraid of color! Working with both acrylic and watercolor, Christina finds the process of painting with bright colors and interesting shapes an expression of personal freedom and sees her journey as a painter to be a passionate, unrestricted, lifelong education. A BFA in Apparel Design and 17 years of professional experience as a fashion designer has fed Christina’s fine art practice with a design-minded process and a love of creating unique color palettes within each painting as well as utilizing different techniques of painting to capture wild and unique subject matters. Christina displays and sells her work at art shows in RI and CT such as the Mystic Art Festival, Virtu Art Festival, Wickford Art Festival, Scituate Art Festival, Old Saybrook Art Festival, and the Narragansett Art Festival.
