Dina Varano [1990, Jewelry + Metalsmithing]
The Connecticut River and the New England woods have always held endless inspiration for me to discover. My process begins with something I find on a walk and bring to my studio. I explore my findings and draw intuitively with charcoal to capture the essence and gesture. The rhythm and movement I find is a grace I first learned from my parents who dedicated themselves to dance. I then carry my process to metal. The mark of my hand on each piece is deliberate and creates an enhanced connection between the piece and its owner. My goal is to continually explore and passionately further my curious spirit on this artistic journey creating jewelry, sculpture and drawings.
