Elizabeth Long [2024, Illustration]

I am a Boulder-based illustrator who aims to imbue my work with a sense of nostalgia and whimsy, whether it’s a tank top or a risograph print. Inspired by picture books and nature journals, I love to combine my distinctly vintage designs with more contemporary colors and cuts in apparel. While I draw digitally, the tactile process of screen printing on fabric physically connects me back to my work. I have handled every item I make. For the same reason, I use risograph as my main printing technique. The traditional practice of separating colors and thinking diligently about opacities and layers connect me to a long tradition of thoughtful and intentional print media. I make work for a modern audience, but I enjoy creating in an analogue way.
