Studio Maçon was founded by two creative and life partners, Alex and Hannah. They had a figure drawing class together at RISD in 2008, began designing together in 2014 and got married in 2023. Their work is inspired by ancient artifacts and the intimate and personal objects they cared for when they were children. All Maçon pieces begin as a collaboration; Hannah coaxes them into three-dimensional life while Alex shapes the two-dimensional graphic world they inhabit. Each piece is carved by hand in wax and then cast at a local foundry in bronze, silver or gold with the lost wax technique. Finally, they refine and polish each piece in their California studio.
