Erica Klein [2018, Painting]

The food we eat says a lot about us. The culture we come from or are surrounded by. The generation we belong to. The food we refuse to eat might say even more about ourselves. How seriously we take our health. A surprisingly strong opinion about our favorite gummy bear color or chip flavor. Food has has an innate sense of humor and an ability to bring people together. Food is joy.

These are the musings of Erica Klein, the artist behind Hot Fluff. A whimsical world where apples are the size of blueberries and cake slices are fit for a mouse. Erica believes if it’s good enough to eat, it’s certainly good enough to wear!

Hot Fluff blurs realism with childhood nostalgia and sculpture with jewelry. Working from her home studio in Wickford, Rhode Island, Erica transforms clay, resin, silicone, and fine metal into wearable works of art that invite touch and spark joy. Food is no longer bound to the plate; it’s meant to be played with!
