Jennifer Westberg [1990, Painting]

Jennifer loves creating in metal and clay. Hand sculpting original models in wax, casting them in silver and gold, then further manipulating them in the finishing stages; soldering, polishing, and setting them with gemstones. Fabricating tiny, magical pieces of wearable art in precious metal and jewels brings her great joy.

Recently she has been working in porcelain and stoneware as well. Throwing on the potter’s wheel, carving the clay, and adding color with underglazes and high fire glazes to achieve different interesting surface textures and effects. These vessels, bowls, and trinket boxes contain and exist alongside her jewelry. Jennifer has also created several one-of-a-kind sterling silver spoons to accompany some of the ceramic items. Jennifer delights in experimentation and refinement and takes inspiration from multiple facets of the natural and supernatural world.
