Joy Raskin [1990, Jewelry + Metalsmithing]
I’m a hardcore metalsmith who draws from her New England background, and I focus primality in silver, gold, steel and some brass, bronze and copper, plus gemstones. My work is a mixture of jewelry and functional tableware, such as flatware, serving utensils, candlestick holders, small metal bowls, metal boxes and more. I focus mostly on quirky functions, unexpected details, especially for flatware, using many different materials such as hedgehog quills to accent my metalwork but I also do some limited production work. In other words, I pound metal for a living.
