Katie Bullock [2016, Glass]
One of my primary studio practices takes the form of a continually expanding archive consisting of thousands of drawings traced from various books spanning across disciplines. These drawings have accumulated over time as a body of lifted words that can be arranged and rearranged, creating new narratives and associations depending on their presentation. Recently, I have been exploring the installation of my drawings in relation to my glasswork and hope to show these two bodies of work alongside one another. Both threads of inquiry highlight the continual reach for the unknown through what is familiar and the often-surprising moments of wonder and humility that come with it.
