Kimberly Becker [1990, Textiles]
Artist StatementI began making a doll every day when Kavanaugh was seated on the Supreme Court. My goal was to remind everyone that women’s autonomy is under threat. I have shifted to focusing on my Resistance Dolls representing all that is AMAZING about young women. They deserve to represent a positive rather than a negative. I have been, and will continue to donate a portion of all proceeds from sales of the dolls to empowering, educating, motivating, and supporting young women. Droty Uganda is my current ally in this fight. Educating young women rather than saddling then with babies is vital to the future of this planet. The dolls are made entirely from recycled clothing and each one is unique.
