Laura McFaden [1989, Art Education]

I feel that people are searching for meaning, peace, and messages of hope in our country. My work is developed by creating a series of monoprints that are layered with acrylic paint, oil sticks, mixed media papers, found objects, on wooden canvases. The messages conveyed are to offer a visual meaning of perseverance, resilience, and overcoming obstacles so the works may be a daily reminder that we all do have a strong purpose for our lives. As I teach online to my high school art students around the world, I hear their need to have adults in their lives to model ‘hope’. Each piece has layers upon layers of positive affirmations painted with acrylic paint and then excavated. Additional layers of pencils, oil sticks, and paper are added to deepen the dimension within each piece. Smaller minis will also be for sale as well as prints.
