Scaredy Cat Pottery is pottery art made by Kaija, her pottery is hand made with an aim to be cute and charming.
All dishware is made with porcelain clay with most pieces being thrown on the wheel for the base shape, sculpted, and then decorated with underglaze before being fired, then dipped in a clear craze-resistant food-and-dinnerware-safe glaze, then fired again to cone 6 for a durable piece of art you can appreciate in daily use. Non-dishware work is mostly the same but is sometimes made with stoneware clay.

Kaija likes to make cute characters in all the work she does whether comics, animation, or pottery. She also tries to incorporate her other disciplines into pottery work, especially everything she learned from F/A/V: multiple images that would connect like frames of animation printed onto the clay, making sure the kitty mugs have personality with character design skills, and just using general drawing practice to come up with new designs. She hasn’t quite figured out how to connect her comic work specifically with clay but knows it all flavors the stew in the end.

Much of her work is inspired by cats and other animals, Silly Kitty Mugs (mugs with kitty features, paws, and a tail as a handle) and planters are her biggest project and will come in a variety of coat colors and expressions making no two pieces exactly the same. Other items are kitty face worry stones, sleeping kitty dishes, magnets shaped like various animals, animation mugs and planters, berry mugs and bowls, silly kitty mug friends like dogs and possums, sheep yarn bowls, and anything else she feels inspired to make.
