I create wearable art with luxurious devore velvet. My designs are etched in to solid white fabric using a paste that removes the velvet pile, leaving the sheer silk chiffon backing. I hand-paint the burnout velvet patterns using dyes that flow within the fabric like watercolor paint. Handmade is organic form, inspired by and rooted in nature: Patterns evolving or accidental and frozen in time. The vibrant colors illuminated in the iridescent material create moods and, their combinations tell a story.
