Michelle Desveaux [1980, Textiles]

Using my own hand-carved blocks, I print cloth that I craft into items such as market totes, draw string and zipper pouches, napkins, tea towels, and quilts. In addition to block-printing and machine sewing, my techniques include hand-stitching, fabric collage, piecing and quilting. I find inspiration from the many textures and patterns I encounter in both natural and urban settings with a focus on weathered surfaces, fragments, relics, flora and architectural details. I love sharing my passion for pattern, color, art, and design by creating both unique hand-crafted items to be used and enjoyed everyday as well as individual works that stand alone.
