Yinghan Zhang [MFA 2025, Printmaking]

Yinghan Zhang presents original water-based woodblock prints and stone rubbings, available both framed and unframed. The collection also includes letterpress postcards with silver leaf detailing and bookmarks featuring selected rubbing works. In addition, the artist offers silkscreen prints on handmade kozo decorative paper.

These works are rooted in traditional printmaking practices and are inspired by the artist’s long-term engagement with scholar stones. These natural rocks have been appreciated by Chinese scholars for their beauty and philosophical meaning. Using techniques such as water-based woodcut, rubbing, incorporate with collage and silver leafing, the artist focuses on texture, material, and the visible trace of the hand and time.

Each piece embraces natural variation and imperfection. The works invite slow looking and quiet attention. They offer a tactile experience shaped by time and touch. By offering both original works and smaller printed editions, the artist creates approachable ways for viewers to collect and live with handmade printmaking.
