Mia Ziyan Wang is an Interdisciplinary Designer based in Providence RI. Using a blend of craft and narrative in her creative process, She aims to share the rich cultural and historical identity that she brings with her as a Chinese designer in the rapidly changing landscape of American design. Taking inspiration from rituals, traditional techniques of arts and crafts and personal and collective memories, Mia designs and makes functional and artistic objects that create emotional bonds between people and the environment where they live. The collection of home goods that she will have for sale originate from her degree project, Indigo as Language, and include a variety of products such as pillows, slippers, woven baskets, hand bags, bracelets and earrings. They showcase the medium of indigo dye on unconventional materials and beyond mere pigments and water, creating a unique visual spectrum that connects products to the threads of our daily lives.
