RISD Craft features handmade fine art and design work by over 130 artists. The work on view speaks to the quality, attention to detail, and mastery of craftsmanship students and alumni hone at RISD and bring to their own practices in a wide variety of media. RISD Craft: Spring showcases RISD Alumni during Commencement + Reunion Weekend, while RISD Craft: Fall includes both juried alumni and current students in October.
Viewers have an opportunity to engage with makers while finding unique gifts and one-of-a-kind items at the sale, which runs twice a year. While checking out the exemplary craftsmanship, be sure to cast your vote for your favorite artist to make them eligible for the People’s Choice Award.

When and where will RISD Craft shows take place?
RISD Craft: Spring will annually coincide with Commencement + Reunion Weekend, the first Saturday in June. RISD Craft: Fall coincides with RISD Families Weekend in October.
How many artists participate in RISD Craft each year?
Each year there are 120 booths available. In the Spring, these booths are all for juried alumni artists.
In the Fall, a limited number of booths also go to current students and alumni from the most recent graduating class. The student booths are often shared between artists, and they are chosen for participation by lottery, not a jury.
Who juries the show?
The panel is comprised of RISD alumni and/or faculty – all working artists and designers that are invited by the Alumni + Family Relations office and are different for every show. Jurors remain anonymous to ensure impartiality.
What kinds of prizes are given at RISD Craft?
During RISD Craft: Spring, the People’s Choice Award is based on votes cast by visitors to the show. Our panel of jurors also selects an individual who graduated within the last 10 years for the Emerging Artist Award. Awards include a cash prize and automatic acceptance to one of next year’s shows if the winner chooses to participate.
